Inquiry Based Learning--What is it and What Does it Look Like?

By Joe Mead

Inquiry-based teaching and learning is the cornerstone of the International Baccalaureate Program.  In a contructivist classroom (inquiry-based) the teacher is not simply the provider of information for students to absorb and then spill out on a page for a test, but a facilitator who guides the curious minds of his or her students.  We strongly encourage parents and guardians to visit their student's classroom to see the student-driven, collaborative process at work!  Check out the videos below for some great definitions and examples of inquiry-based teaching and learning.
